Philosophy AI Privacy Policy

Philosophy AI is an iOS-only app for daily philosophy quotes, saved reflections, and optional Pro AI philosopher chat. This policy explains what the app collects, how that information is used, and what happens when you delete your account.

Information We Collect

• Account information from Sign in with Apple, including your Apple user identifier and, if Apple provides it and you choose to share it, your name and email address.
• Authentication tokens needed to keep you signed in. If available, an Apple refresh token may be stored encrypted on our backend so we can revoke it during account deletion.
• App content you create or save, including selected interests, saved quote IDs, reflections, chat sessions, chat messages, and content reports.
• Subscription and entitlement information, including Apple product IDs, subscription status, billing period dates, and whether Pro features should be unlocked.
• Usage and safety records, including monthly message counts, token counts, model provider, model name, request latency, prompt hashes, fallback/error status, and other abuse-prevention or cost-control metadata.
• Basic technical records generated by our backend and service providers when the app makes network requests.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone data, camera data, advertising identifiers, or health data through the app.
• We do not sell personal data.
• We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.

How We Use Information

• Sign you in and sync your app state.
• Personalize daily quotes and topic recommendations.
• Save and retrieve your library, reflections, and chat history.
• Provide Pro AI chat and show visible progress updates while a response streams.
• Verify Pro subscription access.
• Enforce monthly message, token, and API-cost limits.
• Prevent abuse, debug the app, secure the app, and improve the app.
• Respond to account deletion requests and revoke Sign in with Apple tokens when possible.

AI Chat and Third-Party Model Providers

When you use Pro AI chat, your prompt, selected philosopher, relevant app context, and the AI response are processed by our Supabase backend. The backend currently sends AI requests to OpenRouter, which may route requests to third-party model providers. Cerebras may remain configured as a fallback provider.

OpenRouter routing is configured to allow providers that may store prompts or responses and may use them for training or service improvement according to their own policies. This lowers inference cost but means Pro Chat should not be treated as a private diary, therapist, lawyer, doctor, financial adviser, or place to enter secrets.

• Do not enter sensitive medical, legal, financial, emergency, password, payment, private-key, or highly personal information into Pro Chat.
• We do not send your Apple identity token or Apple billing credentials to AI model providers.

Service Providers

• Apple provides Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, subscription management, refunds, and Apple account/payment handling.
• Supabase provides authentication, database storage, Row Level Security, and Edge Functions.
• OpenRouter and its routed AI model providers provide Pro AI chat.
• Cerebras may process Pro AI chat if the configured fallback model path is used.

These providers process information as needed to provide their services to us and to you.

Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your Supabase account and user-owned app data that is linked to that account, including saved quotes, reflections, chat sessions/messages, subscription rows, usage-limit rows, model-run rows, profile rows, legal-acceptance rows, and stored Apple token rows.

Some limited records may remain when necessary, such as de-identified account deletion audit records, content reports that no longer identify you, provider logs outside our direct control, records Apple keeps for billing/refunds, or records we are legally required or permitted to retain.

Deleting your Philosophy AI account does not cancel an Apple subscription. You must manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account.

Your Choices

• Sign out in the app.
• Delete your Philosophy AI account in Settings.
• Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
• Choose not to enter sensitive information into Pro Chat.
• Contact us to ask for help with privacy or account questions.

Children

Philosophy AI is not intended for children under 13. If you are under the age of digital consent where you live, use the app only with a parent or guardian's permission.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app, providers, or legal requirements change. If changes are material, we will update the effective date and, when appropriate, provide notice in the app.
